Jo started walking at 2 years of age, dancing at 3! She’s been grooving ever since. Jo was born in the Ottawa-Gatineau region and moved to the beautiful Okanagan in the late 80s. From her love of jazz & interpretive dance as well as competitive ballroom, she added group fitness instructor to her repertoire. Her approach always involved excellent technique, balanced workouts and of course lots of fun.

After years of experience teaching classes and working as a dental hygienist, she sustained a serious lower back injury that required surgery. This injury inspired Jo to become certified in mat Pilates in 2003. She became even more aware of the importance of a strong core as a foundation for all fitness activities and for living! It is from this place of passion that she created and opened Bodies on Power in 2008. A fitness studio that offered a buffet of classes for body & spirit alike. She attracted 12 like-minded instructors and an enthusiastic front end team. She added to her credentials by becoming certified in the Healthy Back program in 2016. The following year, with elevated member experience in mind, she connected with Oranj Fitness CEO and together transformed BOP into it s new incarnation as Oranj Express Penticton. Jo continues to teach Pilates, barre, group fitness & cardio-dance at the studio.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021, receiving the necessary medical care and experiencing the range of emotions associated with this process she is now, more than ever, dedicated to her love of teaching and to elevating spirits while doing so. By bringing experience and sharing knowledge, often with humour, Jo’s goal moving forward is to assist others in elevating their own vitality on a daily basis and to spark joy for living even more authentically on a daily basis.
